ARTIST'S STATEMENT

With his painter's eye for color and detail, director/cameraman/photographer Cosim Scianna's new collection of Iris Giclee prints entitled, 'Textures' focuses on the impromptu arrangements presented to us in our daily lives by nature and happenstance which become subjects of study, and in turn, art. The Giclee process allows the reproduction of work as prints, which are as unique as the original pieces. These prints make the work more accessible to acquire and enjoy, achieving the same balance in the prints as in the originals and actually enhancing their depth and unique ambiance.

" Looking through a lens is like being in another world where I am able to focus on a section of live and specific images in their natural state," say Cosimo. " When every day images become isolated, they can become a work of art. Then, when printed by the Iris Giclee process it becomes truly something extraordinary.

The pictures presented in this exhibit were all taken spontaneously by Cosimo, inspired by the way natural light falls on a particular surface. Cosimo selects the area he wants to isolate in the lens and makes a decision to focus on the subject, drawing the viewers eye to it but never pre-supporting what it is they will see.

The limited edition Iris Giclee prints are supervised, signed and numbered by the artist. they are printed on 24 X 32 fine English Somerset watercolor paper with hand -torn deckled edges.
