ARTIST'S STATEMENT

In these Judaica images I have been strongly influenced by Cabalistic and mystical allegory.

I believe the vivid world of Judaica offers the artist a very fertile ground to develop imagery. The counterpoint of the work, and the visual, engenders a tremendous power in it's purest aesthetic sense. In many of these works I hope to embrace the ecstasy of ritual as the essence of the Jewish experience is realized.

My current pieces represent a reworking through collage on wood of very personal symbolic images.

I have also been deeply involved in creating book art for many years. In this work, I have been influenced by medieval illuminations, their jewel like color, line drawing and spiritual expression.

My other work consists of highly glazed imaginative portraits of animals, as well as expressionistic landscapes and self-portraits, as I document the passage of time.
