 BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Artist's Statement

It is the innate beauty and magnificence of nature that has continued to capture my attention for many years. As a young man, I love to draw birds and animals simply because it came naturally. Several years ago, after a long hiatus, I decided it was time to return to that form of art, and concentrate solely on birds.

Each watercolor requires weeks of research and several months to complete, as I always strive for authenticity and precision. Though my process is a lengthy one, I thoroughly enjoy being immersed in every stage. My work is so detailed and intricate because i feel the need to represent the birds in their true form. I draw these birds with extreme delicacy to better capture their essence and expressions. They are as much a part of nature as nature is a part of them. I view my work as an opportunity to share the beauty and distinct features these birds possess. At times, it is the bird itself that catches my attention, at others, it may be the bird depicted in it's natural environment, or a scene illustrating behavioral instincts.
