About the Artist: Barry feels that recording his visual memories is important. He is basically self-taught, but recently has been acquiring important skills to help improve his techniques. He started by drawing and sketching in pencil when in school and then thru college and early in his business career did not actively pursue his artistic impulses. It was after a trip to Hawaii in 1974 that he began painting in oils, capturing beautiful landscapes. Then under time constraints, he moved to acrylics for more speed in painting. Being very active, his needs then took him to watercolors that could be easily packed away during his many trips. Still seeking an easier and faster method he move to ink and artistic markers. Recently though, he has completed the circle by once again seeking out watercolors and oils. Teachers and critics feel that Barry's style has similarities to Burchfield, Cezanne, and Matisse. He definitely has a loose technique in an attempt to be a realist. His works are currently held in the many homes of patrons, family and friends.
